Generating Effective Web Content
Focus on Your Audience:
In order to create effective web content you need to remember that your Website should be focused on your audience and their niche interest. When writing your content, make certain that your dialogue is in the correct format for the right audience. Some of the most interesting content will have more appeal if it actually speaks to the audience.
Try using terms like; you might, you can, you will, yours and you’re- instead of -we, ours, we will and we can and watch the difference it makes in your writing and the response you get to your writing.
When writing for SEO:
Focus on writing for the human reader first and the search engines second. While SEO may be vital to your visibility, try writing your content first before doing any optimization. Most people don’t write their best content when they’re trying to optimize and create content at the same time. Yet we continually see people trying to do this and it shows through in their work; crowded, confusing, nonsensical sentences. Instead, spend your time wisely; creating useful content that will be a genuine benefit to your visitors. Then, once you have written something of genuine value that stands on it’s own merit, you can go back over the article as a second step and apply some mild optimization.
Use Strong Calls to Action:
What is it that you want to accomplish from your writing? What is the action that you want your reader to take after reading your content? Got it? Now you need to clearly build these options into each page and leave nothing to guess work. Describe the exact course of action you want your viewer to take and never assume that they will know, because honestly…your viewer won’t act unless you spell it out for them.
Keep it Simple, Keep it Friendly:
No matter how it impressive it is, please refrain from showing off your vocabulary unless it is directly relevant to the business at hand. Know who your target audience is and maintain a clear vision of who it is you’re writing for.
Avoid Long Sentences:
Try to keep your sentences under twenty words, anything more generally leads to overcomplicated sentences that may confuse, mislead or could potentially just be boring to your target audience.
